Pamela is a watercolour and mixed media artist, who has been working in the Visual Arts and Art Education arena for over 40 years. She is founder of the Woodford Bay Art Group, Sydney and lives, paints and teaches in Longueville, NSW. She has been involved in numerous group and solo exhibitions and her paintings and won many awards and prizes including the Council Art Prize, the major prize at the Lane Cove Art Award 2019.

Born in Sydney, Pamela cannot remember anytime that she wasn’t drawing, painting or creating. She was designing and making dolls’ houses, dolls dresses, cubbies in backyard trees or sculpting mudpies that became little pottery objects or pots …generally making and creating wonderful messes!

Fascinated with experiencing new places, people and exploring the wider world she organises both national and international art and painting tours. She also enjoy exploring the art, the archaeology, the history, the cultures and the artists of those far countries. In her artistic pursuit, she has experiments with various mediums such as wax, paper, fabric, gouache, acrylic paint, acrylic mediums and textured gessoes. Her colour pallet, over the years, has become stronger and more vibrant. She loves the fluid spontaneous water-infused colour of watercolour painting, as it very quickly can express a feeling, a movement, a landscape an object or a person. Drawing and mark-making is so important to Pamela, it as the bones and structure of a painting and she likes to keep incorporating it into the build-up of the concept, to re-find and refine the subject. She also like to involve line and drawing throughout the whole painting process.

In this workshop you will be painting and drawing a landscape in a loose and experimental way. You will be encouraged to try new techniques and to develop your own. Pamela will suggest you use a variety of materials, most of which you probably already own! Bring the materials you have as you can choose to paint in watercolours, acrylics or gouache.
