PASTELS WITH JUDY SALLEH – FULL DAY

Have you always wanted to learn how to use Chalk Pastels or enhance your skills? If so, then join Judy Salleh for a comprehensive workshop using this amazingly versatile medium. Through demonstrations and one-on-one help, you will be guided through the understanding of pastels.

Soft Pastels are fun, vibrant and extremely satisfying to use, as great results can be quickly achieved, compared to many other media. They are easy to blend and, unlike the process of painting, the colours are mixed directly on the paper.

Pastel drawings and paintings glow with an intense luminous colour and rich texture. They can be used on their own or layered on top of other paintings or artworks, thereby offering a versatility, unlike most other media. It is great fun exploring the brilliant colours available and you have the option to dive right in, without the need for paint brushes, solvents or a palette.

By the end of the day Judy will have taken you through the steps to achieving some fabulous results. You will even have completed a number of different subjects. It’s fun, a little bit messy and very rewarding!

This workshop is suitable for ALL levels.

Materials List

Please wear clothes that are suitable for getting arty!

PASTELS:

• If you have your own soft pastels and paper, please bring them along. (It is good to use materials familiar to you).
• For those who do not have pastels, a limited palette of colours will be provided for the day.
• If you have soft pastel pencils, please bring them.

PAPER:

• 1 or 2 large sheets of pastel paper – Mi-Teinte A3 Textured Paper.
• Colours – Dark blue, Burgundy or a Mid Grey/Blue (Judy’s favourite is Navy Blue)
• Please tear or cut this paper into 4.
• If you already have a pastel pad, please bring it along.
• DO NOT BUY WHITE OR VERY PALE PAPER

OTHER:

• Apron
• Erasor
• Roll of Kitchen Paper
• Scrap paper (for leaning on or doodling)
